
Youth, Opinion leaders, student group and individuals from all walks of life trooped to the Islamic Educational Unit in Kumasi when the youth community peace durbar team got there for the Region’s share of the Durbar.
The program which was intended to start at 2:00pm was forced to start at 1:15pm due to the large crowd awaiting to listen to the message of peace from the team.
The crowd became more uncontrollable but peaceful in their desperation to listen to the Virtual peace messages from the National Chief Imam Sheik Dr. Osman Nuhu Shaributu, the Ameer of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Chairman of the National Peace Council, the Chairman of the Church of Pentecost and the First vice Chairman of the Ghana Charismatic Council.
They all listened to the messages of peace with rapt attention.
In a message delivered on behalf of the Regional Chairman of the peace council Mr. Godwin Nana Amponsah – Representative from the Ashanti Regional Peace Council, he entreated the youth to eschew violence, support each other and not be influenced negatively by politicians for any uncouth behaviors. The youth of Zongo the areas have been perceived to be violent but it is now taking a different direction to be untrue and they should live by these positive behaviors. He further insisted that building peace in Ghana is a collaborative effort of all but the heaviest burden is on the youth of the nation to stand their ground to say no and expose all miscreants within their environs who are suspected to be portraying attitudes that might disturb the peace of the country.
In attendance were Mr. Shaibu M. B. Suleyman – representative of the chief of Zongo, Aliu Sisi – cabinet member (Sariki Zongo), Aisha Musah – Sauce Media, Godwin Nana Amponsah – Representative from the Ashanti Regional Peace Council, Ms. Mary Sarfo-Afrakomah – Ghana Girl Guides Divine Johnson Dorlah – Ghana Federation of Independent Scout Program Commissioner.
The Team leader also the National Cadet Corps Coordinator General in a vote of thanks quoted Jinui Hendrix – “when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace”. He admonished all gathered to love one another and admit that elections will come and go and that we should all live in peace and harmony to develop Ghana.
The Regional Peace Chairman prayed for peace before, during and after the Elections and prayed for understanding and cohesion among our leaders.
The National Pledge was recited by all present to bring down the curtains on the thirteenth Community Peace Durbar 2020.
