NATIONAL CADET CORPS MARKS 59TH AFRICA UNION DAY

The National Cadet Corps Ghana commemorate this year’s 59th Africa Union Day (AU) day at the liberation Circle with a guard of honour parade. The brief colourful event which was commemorated was aimed at rekindling the importance of Africa Union Day (AU) on our continent.

One hundred student cadets and officials from Suhum Senior Technical School and Yilo Krobo Senior High School from the Eastern Region mounted a guard of honour which was inspected by the Chairman of the Ghana Education Service Council, Mr. Michael Nsowa who was the reviewing officer.

In his address, Mr. Michael Nsowa encourage the youth to be more discipline and learn about the past very well. He encourage them to be serious in their academies, pay attention to their books and history, this will enable them tell the story of the past very well. He later laid a wreath on behalf of leaders of African and Government of Ghana.

Mr. Nicholas Nii Tettey-Amarteifio, the National Cadet Coordinator General who laid the first wreath on behalf of the Youth of Africa, challenged government to encourage the youth play a key role in national celebrations. He encouraged the youth to hold high the spirit of volunteerism and serve as a role model in their various regions and communities. This will help them learn more about the story of event before the commemoration of any major event.

The assistant headmistress of Yilo Krobo Senior High School Madam Nina Darko laid a wreath on behalf of Africa Union.
