As part of activities to commemorate Ghana’s 66th Republic Day, over 10,000 trees were planted nationwide by members of the National Cadet Corps.5,000 student cadets deployed to Regional and District capitals across the country on Saturday, 20th June 2026 for the exercise. The initiative was held under the theme: “Shaping Disciplined Leaders for a Prosperous and Hopeful Ghana – Hooliganism Must Stop.”
The exercise ran from 6:00am to 10:45am and was completed successfully despite intermittent rains in parts of the country.
Upper West Region: By 6:47am, cadets had assembled for a briefing with the Regional Forestry Divisional Officer and a top government officials before commencing planting.
Ahafo Region: By 10:45am, cadets were concluding planting activities in Asutifi South and Asutifi North.
Western North Region: A grand opening ceremony was held at Dadieso in the Suaman District to officially kick-start the exercise.
Cadets were supervised by their Masters and Mistresses in Charge, with Jama music energizing the teams as they planted various indigenous and fruit tree species.
