NATIONAL CADET COMMEMORATES 61st AFRICAN UNION DAY

The National Cadet Corps celebrates the 61st Africa Union Day with a guard of honor parade in Accra as part of the celebrations for the 70th anniversary of cadets in Ghana.

Sixty (60) student cadets from the Accra Technical Training Centre (ATTC) and a drum corps from the St. Thomas Aquinas Police Cadet, led by cadet Senior Under Officer (SUO) Emmanuel Nii Sowah, participated in the colorful celebration.

In a solemn and colorful ceremony, the reviewing officer, Madam Mawusi Nudokor Awity, represented by Dr. David Odikro, stated that the world of today cannot be better without Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), and that there is a positive paradigm shift that all must embrace towards TVET.

He encouraged the youth to study hard since it is clear that the government is providing them the opportunity to participate in national celebrations.

The National Cadet Coordinator General on his part, stated that the rain on this day is historical and it tells the youth to be ready whether rain or shine. Peace and stability cannot be achieved if the youth are not disciplined to be time conscious regardless of the weather. He emphasized that the youth must know that they have a positive role to play in maintaining peace and stability towards the upcoming general election in December 2024.

In a conversation with several of the student cadets, they admitted ignorance of the AU Day and had no idea what it was about until today, when they were chosen to participate in the celebration. They now understand the significance of the day and are prepared to share it with their friends and family when they return.

The contingent performed in the middle of rain showers throughout the brief and colorful performance.
