The North East Region took its turn to host the fourth Community Peace Durbar in the East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly’s conference hall on the 14th October 2020.

The Peace Durbar attracted divers personalities from various communities in the Municipality was under the patronage of the Regional Coordinating Director.

There Virtual messages from the National Chief Imam, Chairman of Christian Council and Leaders of some Youth Groups in the Country which were played to the audience.

During the Questions and Answering segment at the durbar, participants asked certain vital questions bothering them towards the 2020 Elections. The facilitators took time to answer and explain all the relevant questions posed to them, ranging from the existence of the Peace Council in the region and their core duties, Political Party Violence, Security Services fairly and effectively discharging their duties and on Vigilantism.

In answering the questions posed by the participants, the National Cadet Coordinator General, Mr. Nicholas Nii Tettey Amarteifio, who had to speak and ensured that questions were answered in the absence of the Regional Peace Council representative or the Chairman, explained to the questionnaires, though he is not an authority when it comes to speaking on issues of peace but due to their absence would want to say that the peace council has worked behind the scenes for long, solving issues ranging from disputes amongst chiefs, land litigation, presidential disputes, etc. they have also called on a lot of Political big wigs in the country to help calm political differences and disputes and further helped in the mitigation of vigilantism in most of areas they are represented. The security services are also putting all their apparatus in place, training their men to professionally discharge their required duties without compromise, chaos and brutalities.

The National Cadet Coordinator General, Mr. Nicholas Nii Tettey Amarteifio, further concluded by motivating the participants, especially the youth present to focus more on their future ambitions than to engage themselves in unhealthy political activities that might eventually derail them from achieving their God given talents and purposes.

Dignitaries present at the Durbar were the Deputy Regional Minister Hon Alhaji Tahiru Tiah Ahmed, Nayiri Deemanaa Salifu Mankuwalgi, Representative of the regional Director GES Mrs. Patience Asigri , National Commission of Civic Education Mr. Abu A. Nassam and many more.
