Peace is said to be the absence of war but the presence of Justice in a serene atmosphere amongst a people. This is certainly what was made relevant to the participants of the 6th edition of the collaboration between the National Cadet Corps and the National Peace Council which was held at the Regional Coordinating Council Conference Hall at Wa.

This Durbar was attended by representatives of the Chiefs, Political Parties, Police Service, Electoral Commission, Media and Youth Groups in and around the Regional Capital Wa.

Participants asked wide range of questions on issues relating to sustaining a peaceful atmosphere being equipped by the people of the Region and the Nation at large.

The Regional Police Commander of the Upper West Region, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Aboagye Nyarko enumerated the roles of the Police before during and after the elections. He also told participants at the Durbar that the Police Service and other Security agencies in the Region have stepped up their training towards the elections and warned all trouble makers are to watch or face the wrath of the service men.

A representative of the Wa Naa, Jamal Adama, admonished that the Traditional Authorities have also embarked on a sensitization visits to the people on the need to maintain the Peaceful Atmosphere the region is currently enjoying.

The representative of the Peace Council outlined programs and activities the Peace Council is initiating before during and after the elections to relevant bodies in the Region.

The National Cadet Coordinator General Mr. Nicholas Nii Tettey Amarteifio in giving the vote of thanks, admonished all present to really be ambassadors of peace in their neighborhood and thanked all for coming.
