In a heartwarming tale of dedication and passion, AICO1 Jafaru Sherif Alhassan, a Ghana Immigration Service officer, has made a name for himself as a mentor and trainer of cadet corps in two senior high schools.
From Cadet to Mentor; Alhassan’s journey began as a cadet at Odorgonno SHS, where he developed valuable skills in leadership and discipline. After completing school, he joined the Greater Accra Regional Cadet Corps in 2016 and later trained with the Ghana Immigration Service. In 2020, he was posted to the Immigration Service Academy and Training School (ISATS), where he completed the Drill and Duty course in 2021.
Giving Back; In his free time, Alhassan volunteers to train cadet corps at Obiri Yeboah Senior High Technical School (Oyess) and Assin Fosu Technical Institute (Afti). Despite initial challenges, his dedication has yielded impressive results:
– 2023: Afti placed 2nd and Oyess placed 4th at the National Cadet Event
– 2024: Oyess secured 3rd position at the National level
– 2025: Oyess emerged champions at the Southern Sector level, marking a historic first for the school
Making Waves; Alhassan’s achievements have brought pride to the Ghana Immigration Service, with his cadets outperforming traditional cadet schools in the southern sector. His ultimate goal is to become a national champion.
A Lasting Legacy: Alhassan’s story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating the impact of dedication and passion. As he says, “Once a cadet, always a cadet,” his commitment to mentoring and leadership will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy.
Traditionally dominant cadet schools have been surpassed by the rising stars from Obiri Yeboah Senior High Technical School and Assin Fosu Technical Institute, led by the dedicated AICO1 Jafaru Sherif Alhassan. The national cadet community is proud of him!
