Chief of staff Hon Akosua Frema Opare Officially Close the National Cadet Leadership Training Camp 2017.
The Annual National Cadet Leadership Training camp 2017 has just need at Sampa in the Jaman North District of the Brong Ahafo Region on Saturday 12th August 2017.
The camp which had a participation of about one thousand (1000) student cadet from the first, second and the tertiary institutions .
The participants were taken through basic voice procedure, communication, first aiding, assembling and dissembling of tents, public speaking, loyalty, patriotism, drills and duty, community labour, map reading, time and timing just to mention a few.
Participants were drawn from all the ten regions all though one particular region is threatening to punish cadets from the said region, student cadets fully participated in the camp.
Among the dignities that grace the occasion were the heads of security in the district, chief and elders of Sampa, heads of departments and leaders of various youth groups.
In an address the headmaster welcomed all participants to his school and inform them that the school will be 40 years in 2 years time. The District director on behalf of the Dir. General of GES Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa told the gathering that this year’s National camp is very important in the calendar of the GES and government will continue to support the National Cadet such camp to reduce the rate of demonstration in the schools. The chairman of parliamentary select committee on Education and member of parliament for Jaman North who represented the Chief of Staff from the flag staff house gave government assurance to continue to support the National Cadet Corps Ghana to be the force to reckon with in the country. He promised to make a statement on the floor of the house in parliament for government to look at cadet being a proper reserve of the national security agency when it comes to recruitment. He urges the cadets to be good citizens and spread the good news of the training they have gone through.
The camp commandant Cpt Joseph Mborte from the central command of the Ghana Armed forces who was at the camp for the period stated that the Ghana Armed forces believes that the cadets corps are the future of the nation and it is important for them to be at the camp as professionals to supervise the training. He stated it is a good and professional standards basic training for the past one week.
In an interview with the National Cadet Coordinator General who was the camp commander Nicholas Nii Tettey Amarteifio stated that the corps has come a long way over the past 63 years and it is important for us to unite as one people for the development on the youth.
Participants departed happily on Saturday 12 August to their various regions and homes safely.
